Second Life Quick Start  
         
Step 1  





Go to the Second Life home page at: www.secondlife.com

Click on the "Join Now" link and start the process.                   		  
 
         
Step 2  





Fill in the blanks. Here you enter your first and last name (the real ones). You will be asked for your email address, DOB and gender. Second Life is restricted to those 18 and older. There is a teen version of Second Life for those under 18.		  
 

Step 3

  

Next you create your Second Life name. You select your first name. Then you click on the button for last name options which will be provided by the program. Each time you click you will be furnished with a new set of names. Select a name that may have some meaning - as that will be your avatar name from now on.

After this you will create a password.		  
 
Step 4  




The next step is to select a starting look for your avatar. You will have 12 options as shown.

You will have the option of changing your look. There are tutorials on ways to change all of your features as well as clothing.		  
 
Step 5  

Running Second Life requires a fairly powerful computer. Your computer must meet these minimum requirements to run SL

Step 6  

 

 

The Second Life Viewer is 3D browsing software required to enter Second Life. It is spyware free.

Click on the orange button above to get the latest version of the Second Life Viewer.

 
 
Step 7   After downloading and saving Second Life Viewer, you need to install the program - go to saved file and open.

After the file has been installed a Second Life icon will appear on your desktop.

Step 8   After registering you will be sent a welcome email from secondlife.com asking you to click on the link to activate your account.

Your account will be automatically activated and you will get the "Registration is Complete notice" as shown. You will then be invited to visit Second Live now.
         
         
Step 9   There are two ways to activate Second Life Viewer

(1) You can click on the desktop icon

or

(2) You can click on a Second Life URL It will automatically activate the SL viewer

Step 10   When the Second Life Viewer activates you will be take to the "log in" page

Enter your User ID and password

You can also enter your desired location.		  
         
     

Congratulations!
